About a year and a half ago, she helped me buy my first property - a lovely condo in San Jose that I have enjoyed living in ever since. I was about to graduate from UC Berkeley and just accepted one of the job offers as a Software Engineer, when my parents suggested I buy a place of my own instead of renting. They contacted Marina right away since she had done a great job helping them buy their townhouse six months prior to that. Marina immediately found a number of property listings that might have been of interest to us. While I was busy with midterms and projects, Marina and my step-dad went to explore those possibilities. They narrowed the list down to about five places. A couple of days later they took me on a tour. To my surprise, I (generally a very picky person) immediately fell in love with one of them. I knew I had to have it, and Marina did everything in her power to make my dream come true. Shortly after we placed our bid, the seller conducted a hearing. Marina worked with us for more than six months helping us to buy a house. She checked the property very thoroughfully and always pointed to us not only its pluses, but minuses too. She was never shy of telling us her opinion on the house, be it favorable or unfavorable. For Marina, the most important thing was to help us buy the perfect house, not to push as in buying house as soon as possible. We appreciated that very much. We never felt any pressure from her to make an offer. In fact, we didn't make an offer for one of the houses we liked just because she advised us against it because the property was too close to the freeway. Now we can say that was the right decision.

In the middle of our search process we decided to change the area of our search, which happened to be about 40 miles further for Marina from her office/home. We were afraid that she wouldn't be able, or willing to communicate that far, but that wasn't the case. Marina continued to help us to search for the house, and we soon found one!

We must say that we were really impressed by Marina's negotiating capabilities. The property we eventually bought was in very good area so we didn't expect to negotiate the price down too much. In addition, it was only 5 years old and it looked as if it shouldn't have had any problems. Seller was definitely hoping to sell it "As Is". When our inspections revealed a few problems with it, Marina was able to negotiate considerable discount for us which nicely lowered the price, and covered much more than all the expenses related to the necessary repairs.
